I am a licensed (#F702) and inspected breeder in the State of Maine. I have been breeding dogs since April of 2000. All of my puppies are raised in my home and are not kept in cages. I do not sell to pet shops, puppy mills or to brokers. The dogs and puppies are part of my family and receive a lot of love and attention. I breed primarily Maltipoos and Morkies.

Maine Standard Poodles has been raising AKC Standard Poodle puppies since 1990. These puppies are kitchen-raised, the noisiest room in the home. I have one litter a year, looking for that special dog I can put in the show ring. Parents are tested for Sebaceous Adenitis, hips, von Willebrand’s disease, PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) and their thyroid is checked. The pups are sold with an AKC limited registration with a spay/neuter clause.
Our puppies are raised in our home, with our family, on a large family farm in the woods near Concord, NH. Our breeding dogs, and the pedigrees behind them, have had their hips x-rayed (OFA), their eyes examined yearly (CERF) and DNA testing for prcd. Most of our puppies are sold into homes as pets with a limited registration and a spay/neuter agreement. We take great pride in raising happy healthy dogs with that wonderful “Poodle” temperament. Those that we show are expertly handled to their Championships by Karadale Poodles.

Our goal is to produce well conformed, excellent tempered Standard Poodle testing clear of genetic problems for the ultimate in family companionship. On occasion our poodles may bless their owner’s in the AKC/UKC show rings, and as performance poodles. We are members of the UKC Hunting Retriever Club, The National Association of Canine Scent Work & United Dog Sports of Northern New England.
At Crabapple Downs, we believe strongly in diversity in the bloodlines of our Poodles to correct the in-breeding and line-breeding that has been done with the breed in the past. On the average, most American Standard Poodle lines reach as high as 25 percent inbreeding!
